Course Overview

The Emergency Medical Services Instructor (EMS-I) Course is a State of Connecticut Department of OEMS approved program designed to teach the students the core knowledge necessary to function as an entry level EMS instructor. This dynamic program presents the concepts of objective and curriculum development, class preparation, classroom design, instructional methodologies, evaluation techniques, and administrative duties with a focus on adult learning theory and motivation. The participants are evaluated on several in class presentations and projects that will be completed using a variety of multimedia tools including video, internet applications, PodCasts, hybrid and real time modules as well as conventional computer based slide presentations. The program also requires 25 hours of precepted teaching in NHSHP’s State of Connecticut Approved EMS education programs which will then be used to meet the State of Connecticut requirements for EMS-I certification.
